Organic Nicaraguan Alta De Jinotega

Our new fall and winter dark roast has arrived! Cupping Notes of caramel, dark chocolate, lemon

Certification: Fair Trade, Organic
Altitude: 980 – 1500 meters
Region: Jinotega
Process: Washed

This coffee is sourced from family owned farms organized around Cooperativa Multifuncional Family Coffee R.L. (COMULFAC), a cooperative founded in 2013. COMULFAC members live within the department of Jinotega, Nicaragua. Farmers cultivate coffee on farms that average 4 to 100 acres in size and they use their own micro-mill to process harvested cherries, which allows for meticulous care in depulping, fermenting, and drying the coffee. COMULFAC was established with assistance from J&M Family (a privately owned export company in Jinotega), which has been purchasing coffee from these farmers for several years. The idea behind establishing a cooperative model was to help the farmers organize their efforts and combine their resources to develop social projects aimed at improving the quality of life in their communities.

Our new summer and fall light roast has arrived. Cupping Notes of light brown sugar, orange citrus, subtle honeydew melon

Certification: Fair Trade, Organic
Altitude: 1220 – 1524 meters
Region: Marcala, La Paz

In the year 2000, 62 Honduran coffee farmers joined together with a common goal to transform their farms from conventional to organic production and formed COMSA (Cafe Organico Marcala, S.A). In 2001, fostered by a foundation called Funder, COMSA earned their organic certification from Bio Latina which has enabled them to market their coffee to more international buyers and realize better selling prices for their coffee. In February 2006, COMSA then applied for and was granted Fair Trade certification status. COMSA uses the Fair Trade price premium to fund many social projects including paying teachers’ salaries and purchasing school supplies for their community.
